You guys!!!! This wedding is stunning. The florals. The Dress. The Venue. The couple! Everything! I want to break down how all of Kayleigh’s small detail choices created this gorgeous Taylor Swift Album feel! And I won’t forget to mention my favorite parts of this day and the truly stand out moments of this wedding day! Psssst… They go out in the rain for fun portraits since the sunset was sadly hidden by the clouds, but rain during the ceremony and a down pour right after couldn’t keep this couple from having the best time and dancing the night away with their friends and family!
Let’s start with the Venue, this beautiful day took place at The Stonehouse at Silvercreek which is a beautiful three story mansion set on a scenic 51 acres. The home was built in the 1790’s and still holds some of that charm in its apperance. It has two seperate dressing quarters that are both two stories offering seperatiion between the couple for getting ready while allowing for enough versitility and space for bridal parties to get ready there or just for the bride to get dressed! Just be aware of the stairs because I almost fell down multiple times since they are steep.
The venue property itself is filled with fields of mowed lawn, established landscapes, Tall grassy fields and a gorgeous ivy filled rock wall on the side of the estate. Not to mention a converted barn that offers ambient lighting to share a romantic first dance under or enjoy a nice meal with your guests. This couple did both and even danced the night away! They had arguably the best DJ in Kentucky (Elite Events Entertainment, Travis McGuire)
Okay we have talked about the venue but one final thing I want to mention is for all of the LGBTQ+ couples out there. You truly can not find a more accepting group of people who run this venue! They embrace the community and serve it beautifully by giving EVERYONE a gorgeous place to say their “I Do’s!”
Now onto the florals because these may be my favorite florals I have seen to date! They were timeless with beautiful pops of color yet still wowed the neutral lover in me! There was such a wide range of flowers but it included multiple of my favorite which are the dahlias! Dahlias are just so large and. bring such an amazing texture! They are soft and romantic but structured and can really be the showstopper you are looking for in any arrangement! I know the fake flower trend is really popular with brides to save money but I think real florals just can’t be topped or replicated! (I said what I said! They are worth the extra budget!) The florals were designed by The Flower Lady KY.
Okay, A moment for the dress! This dress had the softest off the shoulder detailing with sleeves that had a floral applique on a sheer long sleeve! It really just brought all of the Taylor Swift vibes for me! It was romantic and this stunning off white color with almost a peachy undertone! If you are a bride in the state of Kentucky I truly think Twirl Lexington is the place to get your dress. I have worked with them multiple times for styled shoots and had countless brides purchase their dresses from them and they have the sweetest most wholesome staff that makes you feel beautiful and well taken care of every step of the way. Plus their boutique setting is just a wedding lovers dream!
And lastly for the most important part of the wedding day! The couple! Kayleigh and Ben were truly the most authentic versions of themselves and share a deep love that could be felt by everyone in attendance. Gavin and I have photographed many weddings and seen all different reactions and emotions from couples. These two were just the best and you could tell they took the commitment of marriage very seriously!
Let’s start with Ben, He is definelty on the quieter side and we knew that going into the day but as the first look approached this sweet soul was just so nervous to see is blushing bride that he retied his tie three times! No exaggeration! He was so focused and serious before the first look and shed a tear or two when he saw Kayleigh for the first time that day! But, don’t let that fool you, after the ceremony was over and he had a chance to breathe he let loose and tore up the dance floor with his loving wife! Which leads me to Kayleigh! I have loved her since she inquired with us about photographing their wedding day! When we met at their engagement session I knew she was my kind of girl! She is down to earth, funny, and not afraid of walking through the tall grass or going out in the rain! The wedding day went so smoothly and truly I think that is due to the couples ability to trust us to capture their big day while keeping us on schedule and ensuring they had the best time!
Here is what the couple had to say about their experience working with Gavin and I! Or to see more Google reviews click here!
“Mckinsey and Gavin were so great to work with for our engagement and wedding photos! They gave us beautiful, professional photos while allowing us to have input so that they had a personal touch to them. Highly recommend!” -Ben
We loved capturing their day for them and look forward to future sessions with these two!
“Mckinsey and Gavin shot our wedding a week and a half ago and omg!! Mckinsey got our gallery back to us in less than a week which was super nice!! They’re also just awesome people. My husband and I are not the type to act natural in front of a camera but working with Mckinsey and Gavin is honestly like working with friends. It was super nice to get to know both of them during our engagement shoot—Mckinsey was also super helpful picking a beautiful place to shoot. Mckinsey was always super responsive even though she just had a baby!!! She was SO helpful when I needed help with anything. She followed my shot list to a tee. We are soooo grateful that we had Mckinsey and Gavin to document our day and help us through the process. I also thank them for their great personalities and ability to work with all of our other vendors with no issue. THANK YOU SM!!!!!!” – Kayleigh
